The Science Of Getting Rich. Is Wallace Wattles' Book Really As Great As I'm Making Out?

You’ve got information overload when you know the names, and can quote, Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, Esther Hicks, Bob Procter, Brian Tracy, Napoleon Hill, Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, Jack Canfield, Rhonda Byrne and a thousand others…

You’ve literally read the book, seen the film and bought the T-Shirt but has it really altered your life for the better? Or rather, has it really altered your life dramatically for the better? Sure, now your thought process is more focused, sharper, more streamlined and permits you to resolve problems quicker, faster and better. These days you always maintain a positive image in your mind and you always read your goals out aloud before bedtime but what has been the overall net benefit? Not really sure?

Too many cooks have spoilt this broth and we have all gorged on this ‘self-help motivational’ banquet but in the end we just got mentally fatter rather than intellectually fitter. We got too much information and we got paralysed! We tried everything and got nowhere. We baked a cake that had a bit of Tony Robbins , a hint of Jack Canfield and Bob Procter all drizzled with generous amounts of Rhonda Byrne. The cake was a failure, it didn’t rise, it was half-baked! Sound familiar? Know what I mean?

Really, we just need and want the critical basics, the fundamentals, the nuts and bolts. Whether you’re the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker, you just want the information for making money, wealth and riches in it’s most easy to understand and effective form. Do you agree?

Wallace Wattles has written a book that is, in my opinion, the most basic, refreshingly blunt, almost brutal and completely undiplomatic expose’ of the mechanics for creating personal wealth and success.

A friend of mine suggested I read The Science Of Getting Rich by New Thought writer Wallace Wattles. She explained that this book had inspired Rhonda Byrne and the makers of the film The Secret and it’s accompanying book, coincidentally also called The Secret!  She’s a smart girl and if she said it’s so, it’s good enough for me… and Rhonda Byrne has since confirmed this to Oprah.

I knew of Wallace Wattles but had never read The Science Of Getting Rich. I regret that now. Ironically, I already had this book in my possession. It had been lying in my vast digital library collecting cyber dust.

My mom always said to me ‘Think happy, else your worst fears will always happen’. She was telling me exactly what the motivational leaders and personal development cadre write about today. That whatever you think about most will happen, that your dominant thinking creates your physical reality.

Wattles wrote about this phenomena in 1910! Today in the 2010′s a thousand business gurus, new-ageists, Jedi Masters and self-improvement ninjas throw this line at you all day long. Wattles exposed this ‘secret’ over a hundred years ago!

Wattles writes directly AT you and pulls no punches. He doesn’t hide behind phrases or rhymes or sound bites. He says it like it is, his words are crystal and he spells it out repeatedly so you get the message.

And the message is short and sweet because the truth is always short and sweet. Most people don’t need 645 pages to learn about the ‘secret’. Most just want someone to say ‘do this, do this then this will happen’. Most people want an instruction leaflet, a quick start manual, a ‘how to’. In my opinion, Wallace Wattles’ masterpiece is just that. Tell me what I want to know in a 55 or so pages and I’ll listen to you… and follow you up the mountain… and make the tea!

Wattles says some things in this book that would be considered controversial in 2010 never mind 1910! He touches on religion, family, the poor and even on information overload but his thinking makes sense, it all adds up, it hits the mark.

All opinions are subjective hence personal and so, in my opinion, this book reveals simply the best advice for anyone seeking the formula to create, attain or attract wealth, success and life-enhancement.

Neither Wallace Wattles nor I can guarantee you’ll get rich or wealthy but after reading The Science Of Getting Rich, you might… and, in the end, you might even get the girl (or the guy).

Good luck and good hunting.

Disclaimer: I make money because I sweat and put the effort in. If you do the same you might make money too… but if you don’t, you won’t. Any and all businesses carry some risks so don’t spend what you can’t afford. This is not Kansas (unless you really do live there, of course), this is the Internet. You might lose money, the world could end… or you could do just fine and earn the respect and jealousy of your friends. Don’t do drugs, respect your elders and recycle plastics.

Wallace Delois Wattles

Born in 1860, Wallace Delois Wattles was poor and remained that way throughout most of his life. As an adult Wattles left home to try and make it as a writer. Suffering failure after failure, barely making enough to eat, he refused to give up. It wasn’t until later in his life that Wattles discovered the secret used by many to become wealthy and successful.

The Science of Getting Rich is Wallace Delois Wattles most famous book and is still read all over the world today. After suffering disappointment and failure for so long, many would have given up on their dreams. Wallace Wattles however, did not. He studied people who had the wealth and success that he wanted and noticed a common thread. The Science of Getting Rich is his book outlining what he found and the methods he himself used to become prosperous and successful.

In a letter written by his daughter after his death, Wallace Delois Wattles is described as living every page of his writings. He wrote almost all of the time and everything that came out of his pen was tested in his life. In the end, Wattle had found many different theories and methods that he was able to apply to his and other peoples’ lives successfully. The Science of Getting Rich is not by any means the only book he wrote and all are considered by many who have read them to be some of the best written books on the subject of personal improvement and “New Thought” techniques that were written.

Wallace Delois Wattles is also the author of many other books including The Science of Being Well, The Science of Being Great, A New Christ, How To Get What You Want, and many others. Aside from his original works, there are also books available that have been updated by other authors to make them more relevant to today’s world, as well as collections of his work and others with similar theories on life.

Today, there are many programs modeled after the Science of Getting Rich. Self improvement seminars, money making seminars, books, and movies are all stemming form the central thoughts written in that little book so long ago. People like Bob Proctor have taken the techniques lost for so long and brought them back to life, carrying on the tradition of Wallace Delois Wattles and his methods of achieving wealth, well being, happiness, and prosperity.
