HOW TO GET THE BEST FROM FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES

The success of every enterprise or any venture depends on the ability of leaders to understand the working environment, understand what motivate his colleagues, juniors and superiors. It is therefore important that they have a good grasp of what is the source of motivation from those around them. Motivation comes from within and the sooner a manager has a good knowledge of this, the earlier he starts to understand how best to get people motivated. This could be through managing agreements; harmoniously managing conflicting interest and do all they could to see everybody as important stakeholders in the affairs of the venture. Worthy of note is that leaders cannot motivate people if they are not heard. For leaders to be heard, they must have listening ability. They must listen in order to be heard.

Human body is weak and will always desire rest. Self-discipline is a necessary tool for success in any organization. People are not born with self-discipline. They should learn to cultivate it, learn it, use it and become more effective in achieving their goal.

Postures of leaders determine how well they can motivate people. Managers who act as effect hardly motivate people, while those who act as cause, stand as source of inspiration and do a lot to inspire people, thereby maximizing the potentials of the people around them. Leaders must learn to avoid criticizing the upper management. This does not boost trust and do not encourage respect for the organization. A true leader should represent the upper management. He must be one who thinks ‘we’ instead of ‘they’ or ‘we’ instead of ‘I’. They must think win-win at all times, a situation where everybody has the same change of success, where everybody’s interests and opinions count for maximization of potentials and efficient achievement of the organization’s objective. This, in a way encourages creative input from all and sundry, which is good for organization’s aims and serve as motivational to all parties.

Improving change is very essential in the life of every organization. Managers should make sure that at every point in time that they see how others can benefit from expected change. One thing at a time gives great leaders a sense of direction and allows them to concentrate. No matter the list of things that must be done, they will be accomplished one at a time. Motivation requires calm leaders who will focus on a thing at a time and harness the available resources for efficiency. At the same time, leaders should make room for feedback. Achievement requires feedback. When people are deprived feedback, they are deprived knowledge of the cause of their failures or poor performance and will not know how to avoid mistakes, hence the attitude continue to hamper all effort towards the organizations objective. With a great sense of sincerity, integrity, hard work and objectivity, you will win your colleagues to your way of thinking.

How To Make A Change – Adopt Principles Of Success

I’m sure you’d agree that most people look at the New Year as a time to make a change in their life. Unfortunately, they start out with grand ideas that somehow fall flat. They don’t follow through and they end up feeling guilty. Life goes on, round and round in the same old rut. So how do you make a change — how do you adopt the principles of success?

I’m sure you know that it takes 30 days (some say 21) to create a new habit. That means 30 days of investing time and self-discipline in change. Most people just don’t commit to the 30 day plan and that’s why they fail. Here’s a few steps that will help you make a change and adopt the principles of success.

Commit to a thirty-day program. This can be one you set for yourself or one you get involved with.

Budget the time needed to accomplish your new tasks – make sure you set enough time each day. You can do this by giving up an hour of television time each night.

Reinforce this by reading from a book or listening to a tape each day that supports the change you want to make.

Cut-out the negative influences – for thirty days — don’t allow yourself to wallow in negative emotions or thoughts — quit watching the news and reading the newspaper or talking to folks that are always complaining — this can bring you down

Get physical

– whether its a walk around the block, standing instead of sitting or an all-out exercise plan — just do it!

Set time for quiet reflection — your head doesn’t always need to be filled with cell phones, computer or other games. Take time to sit with your new processes and ideas.

Drink plenty of water at least 8 glasses a day. Water helps detox your body as well as replenishing your cells.

Reward yourself – give yourself a reward at the end of each week, a book you wanted, a movie you wanted to see, a new piece of clothing, whatever — provide yourself some incentive.

All in all if you just have the stick-to-it-ness for 30 days, a hour a day which equates to 1.4 days total, you can make radical changes in your life in just a month’s time. When you decide to just do it, you can make a change and adopt the principles of success for yourself.

I know how frustrating it is to not be where you want to be in life, but you must know that the only one who can do anything about it is YOU. Only you can live your life — no one can do that for you.
