Best Seats in the House: Ambiguity and Paradox MODE of Cosmic Therapy©

The Futile Stupid Unreasonableness of Trying to Hold onto a Familiar Identity and Comfortable Security

We work so hard to ‘establish and maintain’ a certain familiar distinctiveness in ourselves, according to how we inadvertently label success, financial freedom, recognizable sought after happiness/wealth/riches: ‘making it to the top.’

Which supposedly offers us a comfortable individual security, merited place of notoriety, including an emotionally attached favored ‘looked up-to’ identity of sorts?

We are trying so hard to get it right, make our mark, ‘be somebody’, do it before the next guy cashes in; we tend to overlook and undervalue how much precious  time is sucked away in fueling our self-vested fabricated idolized misery.

Along with the desperately sought after unshakable security, [arriving at the place we believe to be significant and worthy of praise and recognition] a certain self-projected respect demanding ‘holier than thou’ foreboding energy attaches itself to the ‘one being in the know.’

The more we project we know, or have need to know anything, the less we are in the vicinity of finding out. In other words, we are always hopelessly lost; no matter the outer ‘toys of distraction’ we exploit to prove otherwise.  (Ambiguity)

Moreover, during the falsely saturated time of cherished self-intoxicated elevated position, we silently refute and resent the parroted place of fictitious harmony while, lacking in true peace, are superficially traveling incognito, defiantly in search of finding our ‘true selves’ in an attempt to fill the gaping hole we live with. (Paradox)

“Surely true peace of mind can be had, IF only I knew how to do the right things to get it.”

“This cannot be all there is”, we silently reassure ourselves, as we once again succumb to our fractured mind’s taunting insistence; “Don’t Worry. Have hope. It’s going to get better. You won’t feel like this, always.”

The relentless torrid mind ridicules us at every turn, as we try to calm our restless seething nature.

Nothing could be worse than for us to heed the deceitful luring words of hopeful resolution. (Ambiguity) There’s no peaceful resolution to be had for there’s nothing to resolve. (Paradox)  “This IS as good as it gets.”

An absolute insidious mockery of the worst kind results when we arrive at the place where we think we should be, doing what we ought to be doing, saying what we need to say, performing the comparable expected majestic duties attached to the “IDEA” of success whether in marriage, career, education, and/or on a spiritual platform.

If the truth be known, as unpleasant as it sounds to fragile ears:  to supposedly arrive at the situation where ‘We’ve made it” nothing short of drinking an 8 ounce bottle of absinthe laced cyanide can eradicate the infectious feelings of unutterable disdain and disgust.

We are living in complete ubiquitous ambiguity and indemonstrable paradox. To deny the reality of its liberating premise produces unalterable agony.

To declare with full certainty that we KNOW what to do and HOW to do and with WHOM to do it is a complete boldfaced lie! It would be like saying one path is better than another path. No. Impossible.

All roads lead home if you don’t KNOW where HOME is located!

Adjusting to the undeniable fact that things are constantly (appearing so) thrown out of order simply to be rearranged in a different framework, requires an ineffable courage and merciless determination not to be swayed by visual “human appetite suppressants.”

Whether these suppressants be in the form of relationships, spirituality, career, fame, prestigious positions in society, celebrity/sports recognition, accolade mastery, extended idolatrous vain attritions of celebrate honor, or simply ‘following someone else’ who has thoroughly convincingly marketed himself/herself and the ‘miracle fix products, programs, or processes’ as ones who ‘have the goods’, the end result is the same: melancholy.

Nothing could be further from road of acquiesced contentment than to believe we must be saved, rescued, set free, and/or bailed out.  Our real business remains obscured as long as we look for it and ‘who we are.’

We are to abandon the idea and any recognizable reference to hope. Hope implies doubt.  If we hope for a better tomorrow we are admitting our today is less than perfect.

Our days are the immutable ledges upon which we stand to view the sun, rain, snow, winds and drought with uncompromising gratitude.  IF we could change our ledges, (we can’t) we would alter our indistinguishably programmed DNA molecules which comprise our celestially organized structured beings.

The more we try to change any aspect of our delicately magically ordered selves, relationships, careers, education, physical bodies, and variegated lives the less productive and contributory we experience ‘pure raw authenticity’ in our existence.

In addition, by inaccurately assuming when we arrive or have arrived that we would not lash out at those who have loved, supported and connected with us on our renowned journey is pointless.

The more successful we think of ourselves, the more unsuccessful we tend to view others.  By reason of comparison and measurement, we must have a podium of reference for our advantageous highly coveted awarded singled out accomplishments.

So what are we to do?  Cease striving, measuring, tabulating, competing and planning! Relax by facing each moment honestly with no glamorized emotional reaction. “If at any moment we think we know what we are doing and why we are doing, cease immediately.”

Invite ambiguity and paradox into the grand ballroom. Put on our finest attire. Offer them the better of the best we have in our closets.  Allow the reality of death’s encroaching reality as the parade of victory to be celebrated and enriched.

Pretend not that he will stay his hand until we have finished our business. We have no business except for living/laughing/loving each moment of our soapbox infused lives unconditionally and rapturously content just to be here.

Don’t hold back.

Do what we sacredly sensually sexually passionately creatively love to do all the time.  Look for no beneficial result, applause or appreciation.

Now and forever with no hope of excuses, defense, explanations, or recognition, breathe in the moment of self-generated ecstasy and release every single mouse dropping bit of it with the exhale.

Start afresh uncertain not having or wanting a clue. Live without security and destination. It’s the only way we do.

Don't Kill It Part 4

Okay, you have this fantastic dream, this wonderful desire, you know you can do it, You believe this is what your Creator, designed you to do. There is only one problem that is hindering you and that is what I call the tick-tock dream killer. Yes, we are talking about time precious time. You know we place a lot of attention on money in our culture however I would argue with you that time is of much more value and much more important.

See if I don’t manage my time correctly, I cannot reach my dreams because it takes time. When I was a kid I had an elderly neighbor who had this old clock that had a gigantic pendulum that swung back and forth and it made this irritating tick tock sound. I ask him why did it make that sound and he simply said that was the sound of me growing older and with each second that past I was becoming more like him and he was becoming more like those who had gone before him.

Hey that scared this curious little 7 year old. I mean come on this guy was old he had wrinkles, and gray hair, and he could take his teeth out of his mouth. That was my first indication that time was valuable. If we don’t use it correctly we will kill our dreams. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to spend the rest of their life going from one diet plan to another lose 30 pounds gain 40 lose 20 pounds gain 30 but so many of us will spend our time on this planet doing just that 50, 60 80 years of yo-yo dieting.

( that is a lot of time people) Why? Because we don’t want too take the time to learn about our own bodies. Think about it, we walk around in, it carry it everywhere, yet we don’t care about how it operates, what it needs and does not need. I am convinced that we will raise an entire generation that will believe that soda pops are necessary for survival and anything that remotely looks like water is to be an object of scorn. Fast food will become the new norm and healthy home cooking will go the way of the dinosaur.

Well, I guess if we kill the body first, we automatically kill the dream; okay that’s another rant of mine that I will deal with later. Back to my point….we refuse to invest our time in learning how we should eat for our body. We allow others to sell us there magnificent fat loss plan.  The usual result being is that when we leave their plan we gain back the weight. What is it that they know that we don’t? They know we will not take the time to learn and we will spend our hard earned money for the miracle cure or the prepackage dinners or whatever they tell us we need. The reason I never tried one of the popular diet plan was simply. I looked at people who said” Oh, I did great on this program but when I got off, I gain the weight back or  I did wonderful on this program until…” So dream killer number 4 is wasting that precious commodity called time, focusing it in the wrong direction.

Midlife Women: Are You Ready to Bloom?

I speak to many women who sigh with recognition when I mention that my work is to help women bloom at midlife.

“Oh, I could use that!” they’ll say wistfully.

Usually they tell me a bit about their story. And it usually follows a familiar pattern, one of several scenarios that I realize so many of us are confronted with past the age of 40.

Is one of these your story too?

•           Your children have grown and left home, leaving a vacuum where your sense of purpose used to be.

•           Your marriage has ended, and you’re wondering if there’s life after divorce.

•           You lost your “secure” employment and don’t know where to turn, or who to be.

•           You’re stressed and bored at your job and hope there’s more to life.

•           You’re facing retirement and dread the emptiness.

•           You’ve had a brush with illness, and are feeling a renewed commitment to how to use your precious time.

•           You’ve put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own and you’re questioning if it’s too late to live YOUR life, to put YOUR work out into the world.

•           You had a vision once to create something beautiful and meaningful with your life, and that vision is haunting you now.

Whatever the reason, if you’re like the women I speak to, you’re feeling adrift and wondering where your purpose and joy have gone, and how to find them. You know you’re capable of SO much more – but what exactly that looks like may be eluding you.

You probably always wanted to make a difference in the world, but decided to do something “practical” instead. So many of us were put on the “practical” track in our youth, and convinced to give up our idealistic or creative aspirations.

But the dreams you put in a drawer long ago are now calling for your attention again. You may have been considered a dreamer in your youth, but maybe those dreams are exactly what the world needs now!

Maybe you’re one of those people with so many talents that you’ve never been able to choose what to focus on, and you’ve always felt like there was something wrong with you. But now you may be ready to combine your gifts into an original form of expression that the world has never seen before! You won’t know till you try!

What would blooming look like?

What can you expect to experience when you do take steps to transform your life?

When aligned with your purpose, your energy will be released and you may feel greater vitality than you have in along time. You will also find yourself in a larger psychological space. It’s as though you’ve been living in a small room and suddenly the walls have become farther apart or even opened altogether, and you’re outside, in a field of possibility.

You will notice synchronicities happening and opportunities “miraculously” arising. You will feel more creative and playful. It can even feel like you’re falling in love – with your own potential!

Every path does require effort and patience, but these will come more easily to you because you will feel more alive and excited about your vision. Above all, you will know that your timing is perfect – that you’re right on time! And that what you want to create is not only possible, but has been waiting for you!

Using Attention To Manifest Abundance

There seem to be a certain number of hard wired skills we have, and one of them is our attention. Our attention isn’t what we focus upon, but rather, our ability to stay focused on something. And then to add a further distinction, the most valuable way to pay attention is when we are focused on something, for instance, a solution to a problem we are having, and we do so without judgment, fear, worry, or complaint. That’s when we are the most successful in coming up with ideas that actually work to have us have what we want. Usually a way out of some mess! Hence, the value of cultivating, and then practicing, this kind of unfettered attention.

Attention is innate, natural, and the sheer power of our inherent abilities isn’t ever going to change, so we don’t ever need to concern ourselves with losing it. In fact, focusing on that particular worry steals our attention away from what we desire to use it for; usually our success in whatever form we desire that success to come in. At times in our lives, that success might be as simple as feeling better than we are feeling, or to realize health when we are not as healthy as we’d like to be manifesting. At other times, we might desire to use our attention for focusing on allowing in all our good. Regardless of our goals, the one Universal Law that applies here is this: what we focus on manifests.

We can spend our precious time and energy trying to “develop” our attention, or to change it, or fix it, if the way we are using our attention doesn’t seem to be leading us to success, but this is a waste of energy. It’s a waste, because our attention span isn’t ever the problem, it’s what we’re focusing our attention on that is! Trying to increase our attention that is immutable and a given, is akin to fighting something that is an integral part of us, with yet another part of ourselves. A pyrrhic victory no doubt, if one is gained at all! What can be done instead, is to work with what is inherent within us, instead of against it. Our ability to focus is as much a part of us as humans being as our hands are. We don’t cut off our hands because they pick up foods we don’t like, we simply put the food we don’t like the flavor of down, and then pick up something more tasty! Our attention is no different. When we pick up on items we do not like, instead of suppressing our attention, we can shift what we are focusing our attention upon onto something of more value to us.

The next question is always “How?” How can I shift my attention off of what’s really bugging me, and onto something that would either make me feel better, or solve the problem? We do this by deliberately providing items for our attention to hook into and demonstrate its valuable skills of staying focused! Affirmations and visualizations are two familiar ways of doing this. What we don’t realize is that these two means aren’t about creating what we want, but instead, are about refocusing our attention, and in doing so, we are able to manifest more good in our lives. Why do this? Because good feels good, and the one desire every human being has, bar none, is to have whatever they are being, doing, or having, all lead to feeling better than they are feeling in any one now moment, regardless of how they are feeling. Ever notice that as soon as we become joyous, we immediately desire what? More joy! It’s just us and our hard wiring, and to work with ourselves as we are, rather than to try to change ourselves, is to use all of our energy in the most efficient way possible toward our success, regardless of what area of our lives we desire to become more successful within.

In this refocusing way, instead of having our attention do a “search and stress out over” mission, we can now have it do a “search and enjoy” mission, by providing relevant details for it to focus upon, that will support us in attaining our goals. Another one of the best ways to inundate our attention with details of success, is to use the words and model the behavior of successful people around us. Success coaches are everywhere, all we have to do is pick up a book, a tape, a movie, or take a seminar, in order to hear what they have to say. Information is abundant, so that’s never a problem. We just have to choose which information we focus our attention upon. We do this on purpose, by choice, and through making a strong commitment to do so. Is this easy? How many times have I either heard, or asked that question myself. Nothing in life that is of true value seems to be easy. Hard work toward a desirable goal may be valuable, and for certain, definitely worth doing, but if it were easy, then everyone would simply shift into doing this process and become successful overnight. So give yourself a break for feeling all that resistance to doing this, and in being as human as the rest of us, you can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s okay to feel that way! The important thing is to continue practicing refocusing your attention no matter what your mind chatter comes up with, because have you ever noticed that even when you switch away from one hard task, and onto another one, the chatter basically always stays the same? If it’s not going to diminish, then we might as well take up those practices that cause us to allow in all our good, and that lead to our continued success, chatter or not! How about that!

Another very effective way to re-hook our attention is to make out a list of details for it to focus upon when we are in a place where we are having difficulty keeping from worrying about something. We make out this list, and label it our Success Response List, which is a practice from the online seminar I offer to people. We fill our Success Response List out at a time when we are quiet and reflective, in a place of clarity. That way, it can be used at those times when we are not so clear. It appears that if we are still breathing, the likelihood that what we have worried about in the past was of huge consequence to our lives, was obviously quite low! With that realization comes the truth that those long gone worries and their impact on our lives, just might be as low as what worries we are now focusing upon. Even when it certainly doesn’t seem that way in the moment! Yet how many of those mind generated scenarios have ever actually, in reality, come to pass? I would venture to guess: not many of them at all. Worrisome life struggles that appear to be permanent when not one of them ever is, attention stealing death grips from our obsessive mind chatter, strong fixation on troublesome fantasies, negative thoughts, and worries, all can plague us, that is, until we decide to have our attention focus upon something else! We can hasten this process in a positive direction through flooding our attention with details from our focus shifting Success Response List. In this case, actions help enormously, because there will simply be those times when getting into a better feeling state of being isn’t all that easy for us, but acting out valuable behavior, almost always is doable. Just do it! What this list is comprised of will not only be different for each one of us, but our own personal Success Response Lists will change over time. What we were intensely interested in on one day, can be different the next, so the actions we have listed that will carry us over into success in any one area of our lives may in fact change. In the long run, if each of those items is geared toward our success in one specific area, then not only will we have the greatest statistical advantage for gaining our goals there, but this reshifting of our attention will always lead to success in other areas as well. That’s the beauty of our innate skills. Once we shift our attention onto success in one particular area, including the carrying out of success building actions, our natural ability to focus our attention will then begin to search for other means and methods that will lead to our success in other areas as well, and all across the board! With success being defined as something that only we can determine the details of, because it’s our life after all. Now that’s real success.
