What exactly is success?

Ask the average person that question and you will get many answers. Success means many wonderful and positive things: Great health, financial security, owning your own home, having your own business, vacations, travel, new things, and giving your children maximum advantages. Success means winning admiration, leadership, being looked up to by people in your business and social life. Success means freedom; freedom from worries, fears, frustrations and failure. Success means self-respect, continually finding more real happiness and satisfaction from life and being able to do more for those who depend on you.

Here is the best answer to that question that I have ever heard. “Success — Is The Development Of Your Powers To Get Whatever It Is That You Want From Life Without Violating The Rights Of Others In Any Way.”

Napoleon Hill

A leader of a large country or corporation may have plenty of money and power, but how did they acquire it? Did they violate the rights of other people in any way? And how about all of the so-called professional people with degrees who believe those degrees make them successful?  There are many people locked in prisons around the world with all kinds of degrees and credentials who thought they could break the rules and never be caught. What about famous celebrities?  Which ones are considered truly successful in every possible way as human beings? How is their honesty, integrity, loyalty and dependability. Are they kind, considerate and humble or are they arrogant, selfish, greedy, deceitful and disrespectful to others. Are they willing to share their blessings with others who are less fortunate? On your climb up the ladder of success, always examine each step as you ask yourself this question: Am I developing my powers to get whatever it is that I want from life without violating the rights of others in any way.”

your super powers – and how to use them

If success is “The Development of Our Powers,” what are some of the powers you must take the time to develop and use to achieve your goals in life?  They are the human capabilities and natural talents we all possess. We can use these powers to achieve our full potential. We must build on them or face losing them!  Here are some of the powers I will touch on, briefly.  I cover them in more depth in the book.

The Power of Positive Thinking. The optimistic person makes things happen. Optimism – is to anticipate the best possible outcome. The old saying, “We are what we think” holds true for success. Learn to program the right thoughts that will lead you to a happy, successful and productive life. What you think and say – is what you will manifest.

The Power of Accurate Thinking – Free From Error – Beyond A Doubt. Accurate thought involves two fundamentals: First, to think accurately you must separate facts from mere information. There is a lot of information available to you that is not based on facts. So, why bother with it. Second, you must separate facts into two classes; the important and the unimportant, or, the relevant and the irrelevant. All facts, which you can use in the attainment of your definite chief aim, are important and relevant; all that you cannot use are unimportant and irrelevant. Focus only on the things that are relevant and important in your life. Don’t waste your valuable time on unimportant and irrelevant things. Life is too short.

The Power Of Your Brain – Scientists say that we are using only 5 percent of our brain, so this is certainly an area of power that we can develop. A computer scientist once said that he could fill two 100-floor buildings with various computers – top to bottom  – wall to wall – and still not be able to duplicate the power of our brain. It is estimated that, Our Brain (computer), equated into dollars, would be worth at least $3,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 – Three Quadrillion Dollars – WE ALL HAVE ONE – and we got it FOR free! Too bad some of us don’t know how to use it wisely.

The Power Of Concentration – Direction Of Attention To A Single Object, Desire Or Goal. We become what we think about all day long, so wouldn’t it make sense to think as often as you possibly can about success, happiness, freedom, peace of mind, good health, vitality and personal security?  You will attract what you think about the most.

It Is “The Law of Harmonious Attraction.” Like Attracts Like – Success Breeds More Success.

The Power Of Confidence – Self-Assurance, Trust, Faith, Hope, Reliance, Free From Doubt. The secret to becoming confident is preparation. By practicing, we come to a point of competence. We find ourselves accomplishing our goals gracefully and confidently. It is then that we do things that we never dreamed we could do. We discover powers we never knew existed. Keep preparing. Keep practicing. Until you become an expert in a world of amateurs.

The Power Of A Strong Purpose In Life (Definiteness of Purpose)The higher your purpose is, the more power you will generate. If you know what you want more than anything else in life, and why you want it – the how will eventually come to you.The more why’s you have, the more you will persevere until you achieve it.

The Power Of Desire – A 90-pound woman lifted a 5,000-pound car to free her child trapped beneath. Desire is the Power. How strong is yours? Nothing can stop a person with a red-hot, flaming, burning desire. Keep building and maintaining the intensity of your desire. Don’t let negative thinkers and joy killers put your fire of desire out. eat it – sleep it – walk it – talk it.

The Power Of Enthusiasm (The God Within) It is to spring forth each morning with the thrill of being alive – to go forward each day in an ecstasy of joy with zeal, eagerness and ardent interest in the pursuit of something – a dream – a goal – and a plan for its achievement.

The Power Of Faith – This important power must be renewed regularly. Most people haven’t enough faith to get their dreams off the ground. They stop applying their power of faith easily after a few setbacks, and often give up on their objectives. Take time each day to reaffirm your trust in your goals. You need an endless capacity to believe. This will carry you through obstacles, setbacks, delays, problems, adversities, tragedy and temporary defeat; you will never fail unless you quit!

The Power of Taking Personal Initiative – Taking The First Step, Readiness To Undertake Something On One’s Own – Ambition And DriveThere Are Three Kinds Of People In This World: People Who Make Things Happen – People Who Watch Other People Make Things Happen – And, People Who Don’t Know What’s Happening. What’s happening is this: You have the power to make things happen – so do it!

The Power of Persistence – To persist means to take a stand; stand firm, to go on resolutely or stubbornly in spite of opposition. More than any other quality, persistence will help you reach your goals. The world is filled with many starters in life, but very few finishers. When the going gets tough, they fold.

The Power Of Goal Setting – Every great achiever has a plan of action to reach his or her objective. You may have to try new plans or methods when you encounter setbacks, but don’t give up. Always keep your list of goals with you and review them often. Out of sight out of mind. Don’t let your sizzle turn into a fizzle.

The Power Of Habit – Habit is like a cable – we weave a strand of it every day until eventually those strands become a cable that we can’t break. Make sure you are weaving strands of good habits every day until they become unbreakable cables of power. Everyone is where he or she is because of his or her habits. If you don’t like where you are in life, form the kind of habits that will get you where you want to be and become a slave to those habits.

The Power Of Hope – To Desire With Expectation Of Fulfillment. Many people have dared to “think big,” such as the Wright Brothers, Thomas Edison, the creators of the automobile, computer and electronic industries, the founders of Amway, the people that put us on the moon and into outer space and even the person who sold us the “pet rock!”The greatest of all happiness comes from the hope of achieving an unattained desire. Poor beyond description is the person who cannot look to the future with hope of becoming the person he or she would like to be.

The Power of Specialized Knowledge – Don’t be a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. You can go into any industry or profession not knowing a thing about it when you start, and with determination and study, learn enough to become a national expert within five years or less in that same profession. Strive to become one of the most knowledgeable people in your industry. Become an expert in a world of amateurs.

The Power of Adversity and Defeat – We all have problems – and our problems only end – when we do. The only people without problems are in the cemetery. No matter what problems you have to face today, there is a solution, because you have nothing to deal with but your own thoughts. As long as you think that your destiny is in the hands of other people, the situation is hopeless. You will need to confront your problems with courage, boldness and action.  There’s an old Chinese saying that goes: “If you live with a problem long enough, it could eventually become a blessing.”  Within every adversity in life, there is always a seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. We have to look for it – find it – and act on it.

The Power of Money – It buys shelter and food, provides education, pays doctor bills, and gets you from where you are to where you are going, in comfort. The more you have – the more you can be of help and service to your family, friends and the less fortunate. You have to learn how to develop your power to earn more money, and then to invest it wisely and cautiously.

The Power of Personal Magnetism – Some people have so much magnetism that they brighten the room when they come in – Others have so little magnetism that they brighten the room when they leave.

The Power of Sound Health – Sound health begins with a health consciousness. This means thinking in terms of good health and not in terms of illness. It involves good eating habits and physical activities.Obtaining excellent health and maintaining it should be one of our major goals in life.  Exercising does not make you tired; it builds your energy and strength.Vitality – is what differentiates the living from the non-living.

The Power of Self Control and Discipline – Discipline is what corrects, molds and perfects.  The person who is not the master of him or herself may never become the master of anything. He or she who is the master of self may become the master of their fate, the captain of their soul.

The Power of Time – Time is the most priceless gift in everyone’s life and we don’t even know how much time we will get to use. We all have the same 24 hours to work with every day.We can spend it, but we can’t save it, get it back, or buy more. When it’s gone – it’s gone. We have armored cars and banks to guard our money but our time is not protected. We have to guard our time and learn to spend it very wisely and cautiously. We have to develop and maintain a plan on how to do this.

The Power of Understanding People – Become an expert on understanding, motivating and managing all types of people. Your ability to communicate effectively and be a good listener is a must for growth and prosperity.

The Power of Venturing – You have to expose yourself to hazards and risk in life – to gamble and take a chance. So many fail in life because they fear risk taking. You can’t get to second base without stepping off first base. Don’t be afraid of being “called out.” There will always be another ball game (chance).

Rick’s CommentsIn 1954, I started reading all of Napoleon Hill‘s books and since then read each one over thirty-five times (I stopped counting): Law of Success, Think and Grow Rich, The Master Key to Riches, Grow Rich With Peace of Mind, Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, You Can Work Your Own Miracles and Succeed and Grow Rich Through Persuasion. In 1970, I bought a distributorship to market Napoleon Hill‘s “Philosophy of Success” program and started teaching his Success Course. I created The Master Mind Alliance Success Club to help my students follow through and put the principles into practice. In addition to teaching the course in hotels, meeting rooms and in-house in many large and small corporations, I also taught the course in San Quentin Prison and at the Delancy Street Foundation for ex-cons, pimps, prostitutes, drug and alcohol addicts. In 1974, I received a phone call from a Mr. John Haid who was the president of the Napoleon Hill Academy. He said that he heard quite a bit about my classes and me and that he wanted to fly out to San Francisco to meet with me. When we got together, he told me he was going to set up a Napoleon Hill Academy Franchise in Northern California and wanted to find the most qualified person to run it. He was here for about a week and interviewed several eager people who wanted that privilege. Many of them were very successful and had lots of money to gladly pay for the franchise. After several meetings with each one of us, John decided that I was the most knowledgeable on Napoleon Hill‘s Success principles and gave the franchise to me. I am still sharing these principles in my Science of Success Achievement Course that my students are studying today.Rick Gettle – Success Achievement Consultant/Publisher/Author/Speaker/Trainer – Since 1970#1 out of 4,000,000 On Google Listings For “Success Achievement Books”#1 out of 6,000,000 On Google Listings For “Success Achievement Courses”

"Never Give Up, Never Surrender!"

100 days ago, I started on a journey thinking I knew where it would take me. It turned out to be so much more than I anticipated. Sharing my experience seems, to me, the most fitting way to end this adventure. Hoping this my 100th article will prove an inspiration to some, a challenge to many, and a lesson to all.

When I began this journey, I just wanted to find a way to get leads for my business that would not cost me a dime (since I didn’t have one). I had developed this depressing, nearly defeated attitude. I was always snappy and angry. I was a bit mad at the world, felt like I had been dealt a raw hand. But, I knew I needed to make this new business work, not for me, but for my family.

I am an English major, so adopting article marketing as my go-to marketing strategy seemed the logical choice. Of course I had no idea what I was venturing in to. 1000 word articles, poorly selected keywords that I could NEVER rank for in the organic searches, self-sabotaging thoughts as I watched day after day go by with no results!

In the middles of this process, I started reading the work of two authors whom have really changed my life: Andy Andrews and Napoleon Hill. From Andrews I learned to stop blaming others for my past. I have a choice to make, and it was MINE to make, not anyone else’s. From Hill, I learned to remind myself not to quit three feet from gold, and how important it is to”see” your goal materialized before it can actually come to be.

The end result, this is my 100th article. I started getting consistent leads around day number 65 or so. But, the lessons I learned about myself and about my ability to stick to something has been the most significant.

I challenge you to create for yourself a challenge of doing something you don’t think you can ever accomplish, and then DO IT. Prove yourself, and the rest of the world, wrong. You CAN, You WILL, You MUST!!! Never give up, never surrender!

The Top 10 Law Of Attraction Teachers – Real Masters Of Manifesting

Learning how to manifest your desires is easy when you start with a excellent teacher. Here are the top 10 law of attraction teachers that I recommend to my clients and students. Each of them offers a slightly different take on the attraction process, but each one of them will help you transform your life if you apply the ideas they share!

Esther Hicks / Abraham

– Considered by many to be the number one contemporary source of law of attraction, (LOA), teachings. Esther Hicks channels Abraham, a collection of non-physical beings, has written several books, and has a regular schedule of LOA workshops across the United States. Esther was in the original version of “The Secret”, but was replaced due to conflicts over the marketing of the film.
Dr. Wayne Dyer – The LOA is plainly evident in Dr. Wayne Dyer’s work. Often called the father of motivation, Wayne brings a spiritual outlook to the attraction process, and his warmth and compassion have made him a favorite in the field.
Bob Proctor – Bob Proctor has been teaching success principles for years. He is probably best know for his appearance in “The Secret”, and his Science of Getting Rich program.
Louise Hay – In addition to creating one of the biggest self growth publishing houses in the world, Louise Hay is celebrated for her story of triumph over cancer. Her story, and her firm belief that we all possess the ability to heal ourselves and create our own reality, form the basis of her work.
Jack Canfield – As the co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, Jack Canfield has touched the lives of millions of people, but he is also an amazing speaker and teacher whose seminars and workshops on attraction and self esteem regularly sell out.
Napoleon Hill – The author of the self help classic, “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill is credited with inspiring a generation of motivational and inspirational teachers.
Earl Nightingale – A former radio personality turned motivational speaker, Earl Nightingale’s album, “The Strangest Secret”, was the first spoken word album to reach Gold Record status. Earl is also the co-founder of Nightingale-Conant, publishers of personal development and self help material.
Neville Goddard – Teaching the power of imagination to transform your life, Neville Goddard used scripture to convey his core ideas about manifesting and creating your desires. His ideas can be found in the work of many modern self help teachers.
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale – A Protestant preacher best known for “The Power of Positive Thinking“, Dr. Peale is an icon in the positive thinking camp. He also founded Guideposts magazine.
YOU – You are your own best teacher. No one else knows exactly what you need, or what changes you will have to make on your journey from where you are to where you want to be. Learn to trust your inner guidance!

Your greatest tool in this manifesting process is your mind! Feed your mind great information from any of these top 10 law of attraction teachers and then begin applying the concepts you learn in your life right away. Your life will never be the same!

Ralph A. Weeks – One Of Napoleon Hill's Heroes

<!– @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } –><!– @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } –> <!– @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } A:link { so-language: zxx } –>

Napoleon Hill‘s iconic personal development book ‘Think And Grow Rich’ details principles employed by successful people from Hill’s era, the nineteen twenties and thirties, and is as useful and relevant today as it was then.

Many of Hill’s Heroes, he admitted to a degree of hero worship, were famous industrialists like Henry Ford, inventors such as Thomas Edison, famous politicians like Woodrow Wilson and bankers such as JP Morgan. Others were less well known though still important figures such as Ichthyologist David Starr Jordan, or Elbert Hubbard instigator of an arts and crafts boom.

Perhaps the most modest and least known is Ralph A. Weeks. In 1929, after a year of driving for a bus company known as Ridge Road Express, Weeks purchased the company; a two-bus operation based in Jeddo, NY.

With Mr. Weeks behind the wheel of a 15 passenger 1927 Garford bus and Mrs. Weeks driving a seven-passenger Buick Sedan, Ridge Road Express began its first regularly scheduled line run, offering service between Lockport and Lyndonville NY along Ridge Road (Route 104).

But, as times changed, so did the company and today nearly 80 percent of the current operation is carrying students. With 300 buses and vans serving 10 school districts, Ridge Road Express safely transports 3.6 million students per year.

In 1935, the Weeks family purchased Grand Island Transit Corporation (GITC), an inter-city bus line offering service between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY across Grand Island. Over the years, GITC evolved into a full-service deluxe charter and tour motorcoach company now known as Grand Tours.

Ralph A. Weeks was clearly a man who understood what it takes to succeed and must have used the principles Hill espouses in his writings, desire or ambition if you prefer, self belief, persistence, planning and organisation – particularly in regard to knowledge or information. A book on Hill’s Heroes is in the final stages of preparation by this author.

The Deliberate Entrepreneur!

After listening to the audio book Money And The Law Of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks,
I found myself thinking… Successful entrepreneurs deliberately and knowingly use these techniques to become more effective in their endeavors. The technique of focusing your attention on that which you desire, is a direct result of their accomplishments!

While others wonder how everything they touch turns to gold, and think, “Its just luck, they have some advantage not available to Me!”…Most successful entrepreneurs ARE aware, and deliberately practice these techniques on a regular basis. This knowledge, and awareness allows them to accomplish what they desire and overcome daily obstacles with ease and in the confidence they will experience what they focus their attention on. Negative or positive!

We are told that we can accomplish anything we desire, and at sometime have experienced a moment where we felt accomplishment with ease and little resistance. We felt GOOD! Yet few believe this to be a lasting feeling or a true and on-going reality.

Why? Because that’s the story we tell ourselves! We are taught from when we are children that, “Nothing worth having, comes easy”, “If there is no pain there’s no gain”, “Its hard work that brings success”, “Be happy with what you have”, “Money is the root to all evil”, “Stuff happens, just accept it”.

We tell this story to ourselves over and over again. As a result that’s what we experience, that becomes our reality, and we still find ourselves without success and feeling bad. Then we conclude “Its not suppose to come with ease”, “I must not be working hard enough” or “I haven’t gone through enough pain”, “I shouldn’t strive for money, its the root of all evil”, “I should be happy with what I don’t have”, “Just accept it”, “Who am I to feel good and accomplish things with ease and little resistance?”.

What’s the solution? We have to start telling ourselves a different story! When we find ourselves focusing or worrying about what we don’t have, feeling resistant and negative. That’s okay; we only need to embrace that is our inner warning signal. It’s ourselves telling us to solve the question…”I know I’m feeling resistant and negative and this is not what I want! So what is it, that I want?” We then only have to focus our attention on the things we desire, that what makes us feel good, with the knowing those things are there for us, and we are deserving of the things we want, those things that make us feel good. We must visualize ourselves having those things, see ourselves in the picture.

Our brain does not care what we think…Its purpose is to recreate what we think, to make it happen, to bring it into reality. It will recreate that which we focus our attention on, that what we think about. That’s how thoughts become things!

I’m trying to remember where I read this, it may have been in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This may not be a direct quote, but you’ll get the picture. “The things we focus on, that which are the dominating thoughts of our mind, will recreate them selves in outward reality!”

“A belief is just a thought you keep thinking!” Money And The Law Of Attraction by Jerry and Esther Hicks

Our challenge is only to start telling ourselves a different story! The outcome will be the story we tell ourselves!

Why The Law Of Attraction Will Not Help You Achieve Your Goals Unless You Obey The 4 Laws Of Action

Do you think you can you really just think and grow rich?

Well, you’re in for a rude awakening. I am sure that even Napoleon Hill would agree with me that you cannot merely think and grow rich. The Law of Attraction only works when paired with what I like to call the Law of Action.

As a former manager of large building projects, I know that you can’t think a building into being. That would be absurd. Yes, every project begins with a vision and inspiration. But you can only visualize for so long. For the building to take form you need detailed blueprints. Then you need to assemble the right materials. And, finally you need to hire the right people with the right skills set.

Why would you think that’s any different with your business and life goals? I’ve talked to many people who visualize and use affirmations waiting for the Law of Attraction to work but they remain stuck in a rut. They’re sitting around wondering why they’re not making any progress.

Why Most People Fail to Successfully Achieve Their Goals

They are missing ACTION. They are NOT taking steps to achieve their goals. It’s like they’re waiting for results to come on a silver platter just because they’re visualizing success. I’m going to tell you right now – you get exactly what you put into it.

If you take action and you increase your speed of implementation, you’ll experience a phenomenon. In fact, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to achieve more in the next 12 months than you did in the previous 12 years.

4 Laws of Action to Add to the Law of Attraction to Help You Achieve Your Goals:

Law #1: Take a look at your affirmations and make sure they are about things you have a true passion for. That probably sounds obvious but all too often we pursue things because it pleases a family member or because we think it would be financially lucrative, even though our heart isn’t in it.

Law #2: Use very precise wording when visualizing or using affirmations. Instead of saying, “I’m a millionaire,” say “I’m in the process of becoming a millionaire real estate investor.” Be precise and acknowledge that you are in the process of becoming whatever it is you want to become. It will be easier for your subconscious to align itself with that.

Law #3: Create weekly and monthly goals. This is where the Law of Action enters the picture. Sit down with your calendar at the beginning of each month and write down your goal for that month. Maybe it’s a specific income goal or a goal about closing a real estate deal for example. Then write down the specific actions you will take each week to accomplish that goal. Also include actions such as training, reading and networking.

Law #4 Have a clear plan for your day and be sure to reflect and learn from the powerful lessons that come your way each day. Ask yourself these 7 key questions at the end of every day. I have found that when I do this in a purposeful manner, everyday, it completely changes both my outcomes and my outlook on life.

* What made me happy today?

Think of all the things that made you happy, and list them. They could be the beautiful sunrise, the smile of a child, a connection you make with someone or the difference you made in the life of someone.

* What am I grateful for today?

Instead of complaining, try being grateful for everything you have. Remember that most people in the world likely have far, far less to be grateful for than you do.

* What lessons did I learn today?

Life is full of lessons both small and big. We learn from both the good things that happen to us and the not-so-good things. Write these lessons down and review them once a week and over time you will be amazed at how much you have learned.

* What was my good deed today?

This has been the most difficult question for me. I try to live a life helping people. I contribute to various causes. But my definition of a good deed is doing something that I went out of my way to do for someone else, with no expectation of gain (as opposed to opening the door for someone, letting a car butt in ahead of me or other acts of civility.)

* What was important to me today?

Reaching milestones, targets, and acquiring new customers is important to me. But do I really want those milestones to define what is the most important to me? Yes, goals are important but am I concentrating on the goals that are truly the most important to me? Keep your perspective on life. Pay careful attention to what is truly makes you happy.

* What did I do to move me towards my goals today?

As you reflect on each day, think about the three or four key life goals that you have outlined for yourself. Ask yourself honestly how the things you did today helped you stay on track with one or more of those goals?

* What will make tomorrow even more outstanding?

Every day, I visualize what my next day will be like and what outcomes I will achieve. I prescribe an amazing day for my next day. A funny thing happens. That is exactly how the vast majority of my days appear.

So go ahead and prescribe a fantastic day full of purpose every day – and watch yourself attracting what you visualize, day by day!

Know The Law Of Attraction History

Law of Attraction Origin

The Law of Attraction is the New Thought principle. The origin of the term is not yet known but in 1879, the New York Times became the first newspaper to use the word “Law of Attraction.” The newspaper did not used the term to describe the Law of Attraction that we know today.

The Law of Attraction we know today came from The New Thought Movement that took place in the 19th Century. There are many New Thought writers, one of those that strongly influenced the New Thought Movement is Thomas Troward.

Writings And The Secret

Besides James Allen and Wallace Wattles writings, Thomas Troward’s “Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science” is one of the inspirational source for “The Secret” production. The Secret is 20th Century way of getting to know the Law of Attraction; it is documentary film that were made by Rhonda Byrne and featured many other modern Law of Attraction teachers.

In 1906, in the book called “Thought Vibration Or The Law of Attraction In The Thought World,” by William Walker Atkinson used the term to explain the Law of Attraction we know today. Next, there was “The Science Of Getting Rich” written by Wallace Wattles. It discusses the Law of Attraction based on Hindu teaching, that God pervades everything and we can manifest that which we focus on. From there, Law of Attraction got simplified into the saying, “What we focus on, expands.”

In 1928, Napoleon Hill released “The Law of Success.” This large book consists of 16 lessons. It was later simplified into another Law of Attraction classic book called “Think And Grow Rich” in 1937. There are reports saying that Henry Ford went furious over Napoleon Hill writings because it reveals the secrets of the Elite Class.

The book, “Think And Grow Rich” became one of the best selling books of all time. There is the 21st Century edition by different author been released. The original version of “Think And Grow Rich” was sold over 60 million copies. The book teaches the reader about the Law of Attraction. Napoleon Hill introduced with clear explanation on the Law of Attraction philosophy. He explained our thoughts possess the energy that can result in manifestation. And so, it is important for us to control our thoughts.

Overcome Adversity, Gain Strength, and Win!

By Erin Emmons

Everyone has gone through difficult times that are hard to bear. You may have lost your job, your money, your credit, be deeply in debt and have a strained relationship with your significant other. It is easy to think that you are the only one that experiences hard times and other people get all the “breaks” in life.

You may not have deserved your misfortune but it depends on how you react to these situations that determines the eventual outcome. You can decide to give up and die or you can decide to fight. You’re already in a fight; you might as well fight back.

Is it possible to gain strength through adversity? It is if you closely analyze the situation that you face. The great success philosophy writer, Napoleon Hill, said, “Every defeat carries within it the seed of an equivalent advantage”. This means that no matter how bad the situation is if you keep on in persistence and belief you can turn that bad deal into something that is just as good (or even better)as the bad thing was bad.

If we think about it honestly then it is easy to see that adversity really does strengthen us and doesn’t come to destroy us but to bring us new opportunities, i.e. to promote us.

I think back to some of my favorite movies and I see this truth played out again and again. In “The Karate Kid” would Daniel Laruso ever have become the All-Valley Karate Champion if the Kobra Kais hadn’t of beaten him up a few times? Definitely not! He would have gone through his life being completely ordinary and Mr. Miyagi and he would not have developed such a strong friendship. The beatings weren’t good for sure but that’s why Daniel became the Karate Champion. He wanted to stand on his own…and stop being a punching bag.

In “Back to the Future”, Marty McFly’s father would have never changed and become successful if Marty hadn’t accidentally gone back in time and endangered his own existence. That strong adversity of losing his very life gave Marty the very strong impetus to make things right again with the space-time continuum. In the end, Marty gets his parents to fall in love, saves his existence, and his father becomes a famous science fiction writer in the bargain. If none of that ever happened, George McFly would still be a loser and Marty would never have the confidence to continue his music career (and Marty and Jennifer would never have gotten to go up to the lake in the new truck!).

It’s much the same in real life. Analyze you current misfortune and see if it contains the seed of a great victory in your life. Maybe you lost your job and your financial life is in ruins. But perhaps you always wanted to be your own boss and have your own business. Not having money is a terrible thing and you can lose your home, your relationships, and maybe even your mind! But that hardship may be just the thing you needed to inspire you to start your business now. Maybe if you had never lost your job in the first place you would never have tried your business idea. Maybe you would have only talked about it from time to time but never did anything about it. But the seeming misfortune of losing your job and your money forced you to become creative and resilient. It was either that or perish. Don’t perish.

So, don’t give up! Analyze your problem carefully, determine what you can do to change it, be open to new opportunities, and think positive. One day you will win! You have to! But, only if you keep trying. Just remember what the great movie character Rocky Balboa said, “It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit…how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” True.
