Appreciating the Little Things in Life
Do you appreciate the “little things” in life enough or do you occasionally take some things for granted?
A few days ago my wife and I were having a conversation about appreciating the little things in life. She told me that I didn’t appreciate them enough. Of course my immediate reaction was to say “yes I do!” haha.
Me being the over analytical and philosophical thinker I am, really processed that for awhile though and I realized that she was right, and I was wrong!
I greatly appreciate the big things in my life, and I greatly appreciate the little things in many aspects, but not enough of them!
I’m going to make it a daily focus of mine to greatly appreciate every smile that I see, whether it is directed at me or not.
I am going to appreciate every child’s laugh and every moment of silence. I am going to appreciate standing in line at the store and sitting in traffic, because I have been blessed to have such an opportunity.
I am going to appreciate every nanosecond of every moment, because the only thing that really exists is this moment, and if this moment is all that I have, it should be savored, delighted in, and thanked for.
The truth of the matter is that when we appreciate the “little things” in life, we are also appreciating ourselves, and life is suddenly much more peaceful and harmonious.
