Be An Adventurer
Be An Adventurer – In Your Own Life!
It can be so difficult to take steps in new directions. Worry, fear, anxiety…big words that loom when something ‘new’ or ‘difficult’ heads your way.
How about being an adventurer instead? If you think of an adventure, you think of exotic places, new faces and even new tastes and smells. In order to make the most of your adventure, you need to plan, get packed (sometimes), prepare to be away from home or work and sometimes even train in advance. Most of all, you will need to move your mental focus from one of worry, fear and anxiety to a mental focus of anticipation and excitement. Sounds like a worthy challenge. Are you up for it?
Here are a few ways to get started:
Focus on the positive – what is the best thing that can happen when you do this? Will you be successful? Could it possibly change your life? Or will you simply be able to say “I did it!”? By taking a positive look at where you will be when you have completed your adventure, you can start to visualize the steps you will take to get on your way.
Be determined – stay primed and ready to go. Never let procrastination move in and take over. Putting off what you know you can do will simply make it more difficult to get going. Determination can help you move forward when roadblocks come your way.
Have a little faith – in yourself, in the world around you, in your work. You can do it! Think of what you have accomplished this far in your life. It took courage to get there, so you can apply the same thoughts, same passion, same planning and sense of adventure to your new task.
Share the experience (and even the anxiety) – letting others know about your adventure can help you borrow some courage and move forward. It’s always nice to have people cheering on the sidelines. Your turn will come when they will need you to. Be ready. And don’t forget to share your progress and thank them when you reach the end of your adventure.
Make a plan to celebrate success – by getting ready to celebrate your accomplishment, you continue to build the momentum to get going and start on your adventure. Remember to include your cheering squad!
So go on. Look at your life – what is the next step? Can you make it into an adventure? Take up the challenge – be an adventurer. It’s your life and with the tips you just learned, you are ready to go!
